i think im quite good at make-up everyones always complimenting it and getting me to do it on special occassions this would be my dream job!Can i become a make-up artist without a qualification?
i think you dont ahce to get qualificatoinsCan i become a make-up artist without a qualification?
No because there is a ridiculous amount of stuff to learn.
You need to learn about all the different skin types, colours, how to cover spots, how to not aggravate spots, on older skin, on young skin, how to not accentuate wrinkles, how to decrease wrinkles, how to do bridal makeup, how to do make up that will look good on photos using a flash and not make them look like a ghost, how to make makeup look good for on a stage or under heavy lighting, what colours go with what, how to make noses smaller with shading, etc etc.
You need a qualification because of safety reasons, and even if you are really good no-one will hire you without seeing proof that you know all the theory.

Having bad circulation and varicose would be a problem for a make up artist to be able to work?
i want to become a makeup artist. I have varicose and I wonder how long makeup artists spend time standing or sitting and is it a good choice for me workwise as i cannot choose a job where i have to sit a lot or standHaving bad circulation and varicose would be a problem for a make up artist to be able to work?

Who is the make up artist(s) for ';celebrity circus';?
The eye work done on every actress show is very beautiful, and I would love to know the names and webpages of the make up artists involved. I have been taking classes for theatrical make up since last July and I enjoy the eye work very much.
^-^Who is the make up artist(s) for ';celebrity circus';?
IMDB.com indicates that hair and make-up for that show is done by Movie Movers:

You may want to contact them for any info more specific than what's on their website.

Hey Girl!!
I am also 24 yrs/ old and I share the same passion that you do. I literally called a local beauty school here in Indianapolis,IN today and I have an appointment to enroll on Thursday!!! This has been my dream for awhile. You just know that it is right for you. Well, there is a lady named Debra Macki and I believe she is located in Chicago. It is a 2wk class for professional make-up. But you are located in the perfect spot!!!! TAKE ADVANTAGE!!!! Most people have to travel to Chicago,Atlanta,or California to take professional classes. If I were you, I would start by searching on the internet. Search local. If the prices are out of range. I would apply for finacial aid and go to beauty school. The make-up course is not that long at all. Maybe a couple of months. You have an array of options. Girl!!! GO DO YA' THANG.
I have another page on 360- My id is Sweetvixon7210. I will be tracking my progress in beauty school. GOOD LUCK. and Keep in touch. I want to know how you are doing.

you need to go to cosmetology school, specializing in make-up. do your research %26amp; make sure it is a school with good credentials. do not go just anywhere.
go to college first
you shuold go to beauty school
check your local schools or salons for classes on makeup or styling
In some states u don't have to have a licence to be a make up artist so u will have to check the laws in ur state and see if you have to have one. if you go to cosmetology school u will have to learn more that just makeup and some don't even teach makeup. usually if you want to be a full blown make up artist u'll have to have some school but for freelance you wouldn't have too, say if you like it for a side thing you could walk into any makeup store and they will ask you to put makeup on someone and if you do it good they will probably hire you but if you wanna do it full time i would probably take some workshops and classes. there are workshops that come through states and help you learn more tricks and tips and you can look on the internet for makeup schools in ur area. If will be hard probably to become and full blown makeup artist cause alot of them have full time jobs on the side anyways because it's hard to start a business just as a make up artist! but it also depends on where u are! good luck! And i would really like to know how things work out for you because I'm trying to because a makeup artist as well because it is also my passion so email me at Rockerchick2719@yahoo.com and tell me how everying goes!
yes follow ur passion...
I followed mine..
I am a professional makeup artist..Ive been doing this for 3 years....
and I love it everyday......
Girl, you and SweetVixon are in some major cities that offer such good opportunities. I too love to do makeup and hair, but I live in California and the area I live in doesn't offer that much of an opportunity. I am my beauticians hair model and I love doing my own makeup for the photo shoot and I'm hoping that something will become of that, but I don't know where to turn to further my career. When I was looking for a school and information I was told to enroll in Esthetician classes and that may be helpful for you to find out. To do makeup, she said that the Esthetician courses teach you the anatomy of the skin, applying makeup, and waxing and styling eyebrows. You may just want to start off looking on the internet like SweetVixon said and look up ';Beauty School Directories'; and it will list beaty schools in your area. Or look in your local phone book and call around. Ask them to send you information on their school or ask for an appointment to meet in person. It's best to meet in person so you can see how the school looks and if they have a good amount of people. Sometime when you have a look around and see what's going on, you can know if that's the school you want to go to. You know what I'm saying. Look for a nice school that offers financial aid so you won't be worried about your financial situations while going to school. Girl, good luck to you and SweetVixon and I hope everything works out for you both. Who knows you might be the next ';Celebrity Makeup Artist'; for one of these stars....
I'm from Chicago as well and my friend used to do makeup for mac, you could try to apply there, you could also enroll in the classes but normally places will train you if you don't have the finances to go to school. I suggest that you try to enroll in school though. You could also begin with family and friends, if you already know at least a little about applying makeup. This will help you gain ';experience'; and can score you major points if applying at Mac or another place with no educational background in makeup.
Hope this works for you and good luck I hope you make it

Do you need to be at art to be a make up artist?
My art is not very good and i am going to be doing a make up course at college, is there a lot of good art involved in the course?Do you need to be at art to be a make up artist?
no you just need to understand the effect that color has
some colors bring out features some recess them etc...Do you need to be at art to be a make up artist?
no you dont have to, but taking an art class does help. It helps you understand about shadows (which is good to know if you want to learn how to enhance someone's features with makeup), and how to blend colors along with contrasts and matching. Maybe you should give it a try.
No you don't but it would help, if at the end of your course you wanted to be a makeup artist for a movie studio or the theater.
As a retired art teacher, I would prefer a student who does not think he is very good. If a student thinks or has been told that they are good often have picked up a lot of bad habits that they are determined not to let go of. Just go into the class to have fun and you may just shine as the best of the class. I have seen it happen over and over again. Remember to have fun.

Should Hilary Clinton hire a designer and make-up artist to help her look more energetic?
Hilary Clinton looks tired to me. I would like to see her update her apperance clothing ( I would volunteer) and get a makeup artist to help her look more energetic.

LOL.Should Hilary Clinton hire a designer and make-up artist to help her look more energetic?
If they took off her makeup she would be a skeleton or a pitbull, I don't know which.
But I'd sooner put makeup on a shark, underwater while I'm bleeding.
No, she should keep on looking like crap that way people won't vote for her because they don't want to look at her!
LoL, sorry, I know you asked me not to, but I couldn't resist.

who the hell cares?
besides, shes a cougar, id do her
She DEFINATELY NEEDS one.
Sorry, I'm going to have to say ';Nah, screw you. I'm going to implement politics here.';
Hilary Clinton doesn't need to be energetic. You know why? Because she's not. I don't really think she's going to be a good president, either, because her solution to any problem is ';Ban it!';
I'm totally voting Barack Obama. Effin' genius.
I am sure she is tired. Being a Senator and running for president can be taxing. Plus we tend to be more critical of hpw women look over the men. Also remember they only have so much to work with

How does a aspiring make up artist learn more?
A good way to start out is by finding pictures of make up looks you like and trying to duplicate them. Invest in good brushes and quality make-up (M.A.C. and Make-up Forever are typical industry standards) and, if you're really serious, you might consider enrolling in beauty school to further educate yourself.
Lastly, if you feel confident in your skills, try going on craigslist to find photo shoots and movies that are often seeking make up artists. You may have to do a few free jobs, but this will build up your resume and eventually will lead to paying work. How does a aspiring make up artist learn more?

A great way to start and to get paid for training is to get a job at Macy's, Nordstrom, or Bloomingdales in the cosmetics department. The vendor that they hire you for provides free training. Macy's is usually where most people start, as they don't require as much experience as Nordstrom or Bloomies.

I am looking for a make-up artist in the memphis area any ideas.?
I am getting married in march and would love a professional to do me and the grls make-up on my big day. If you know of anyone please respond.I am looking for a make-up artist in the memphis area any ideas.?
call some of the more high priced salons in your area, most of the spa type places that do hair and nails will also do makeup. or you could go the cheap route and find a cosmetology school! maybe there's a paul mitchell school where a student can do your makeup for like $20. OR try dept store makeup counters, no appointment necessary and you have a huge selection of brands! just make a min purchase so the girl doing your makeup gets commission for it.I am looking for a make-up artist in the memphis area any ideas.?
Just a suggestion since I don't live in the area, but check with a couple of your upper class hotels if they have a beauty spa, Go check out their work first hand on some of the woman they are going at the time. If you like what you see, ask the artist if they are available for private hire for your wedding.

Does a hair and make up artist go on tour with a band/ artist?
i was just thinking when someone say..taylor swift or whatever went on tour, would they have a hair and makeup artist who comes along with them?Does a hair and make up artist go on tour with a band/ artist?
Yes.Does a hair and make up artist go on tour with a band/ artist?
Yesss!
They have to look ';Perfect'; that's why they have officials, managers, make-up artists, stylists, everything!
xx
But some stars like Ashlee Simpson prefer to have their eye make-up like the eye-pencil done by themselves...=]
Yea they do. I do minor acting and do mini tours of OZ and we have at least 1o make up artist. If we have them and we are minors then think of what taylor swift has.

Is it hard for a make up artist and hairstylist to start a life in New York?
Hi, I'm an Asian freelance make up artist and hairstylist currently working in London. I'm thinking to move to New York, I'm wondering will it be hard for me to find jobs and start a life there? how much would an average room rent cost? How much is the minimum cost of living a week? what is the best way to start? Pls advice! will be very much appreciated! Thanks for your time.Is it hard for a make up artist and hairstylist to start a life in New York?
I would send examples of your work to the various makeup artist reps and set up app'ts in advance. You might have to work pro bono initially along side established pros until clients and your rep know you are reliable and do a good job. Then again, they may love your work and have jobs ready for you when you come.. Take a look at the NY page of Craigslist and check out the apt listings. They have shares, your own rental etc.. you can see what the median price is this way and in the various areas of the city.. London exp. I would think would count for a lot in NY as it is such a fashion forward city. Is it hard for a make up artist and hairstylist to start a life in New York?
Yes. If you havent done any pro work it will be. Get whom ever you ork for currently to write a letter of recomendation when you find a job in NY. As for home prices, last i heard they were high, but google it. Like: housing prices in new york 2008.hair tips

How do I become a Make-Up Artist?
Hi!
Ive been wanting to go into the Make-Up artist field, and was wondering what I need to do to become one? Im trying to look for classes in San Diego but cant find any. Any recommendations??
And another question cosmetologist really wouldn't be the title of a Make-Up artist right?
I would really appreciate answers! Thank You!!How do I become a Make-Up Artist?
Yes, a cosmetologist can definitely include being a make-up artist! Cosmetology is the study or ART of cosmetics and their use. Sounds like a make-up artist to me! The school will probably use the the word cosmetology because it covers all different aspects of the field so don't get discourged by the use of the word. Just make sure the school offers specific classes designed for what you are looking for! I just googled it and found several schools in San Diego! Good luck! :) How do I become a Make-Up Artist?
Just search up make-up/hair/aesthetics in the San Diego area on Google Search Engine, and it will definitely show you some academies that offer a makeup-artistry certificate. To become a makeup artist all you have to do is go to an academy (school) for about half a year to a year, to learn how to do makeup. Once you have successfully finished this coarse, you will receive your makeup-artistry certificate which will make it official that you have the skills, knowledge and ability to do makeup professionally on yourself and others. However, a cosmetologist is an individual who works for the department store in which the cosmetic brand is suited in, such as Chanel in Neiman Marcus. The cosmetologist does not directly work ';Chanel';, but they represent Chanel and Neiman Marcus, so their salary is paid equally by both companies. They are driven to meeting and exceeding daily/monthly goals, sell cosmetic merchandise and recieve commisson, and follow the rules of that department store. Where on the other hand, a makeup artist works directly for the company, say for example a Chanel Makeup artist. Their salary is fully paid by Chanel, but do not make commisson, however they help with area-wide makeup events, and help sell and encourage product investment from the consumer. It's an awesome industry and you will enjoy it because it opens your brain to creativity and imagination!
you should be able to fiund make-up colleges in places. in australia, we got napolean that does a lot of that. like the places that only do makeup, nothing else.
doing a bit of work experience in a place like that beforehand will help you get into one of them.
and if ny place uses the word cosmetologist, its way too pretentious. a makeup artist is a makeup artist!!
I asked this almost exact question and got zero answers so... Good luck!

Good luck!

Does a ';make-up artist'; necessarily work with fashion, movies, etc..?
I'm Brazilian and I'd like to know whether I should use this expression to name an ordinary person who works at a beauty parlor, doing make-up. I've done some search and it apparently defines only someone who works for movie companies, celebrities, models and (?) brides. Could anyone clear it up, please?Does a ';make-up artist'; necessarily work with fashion, movies, etc..?

How to train as a make up artist?
I would like to give private make up lessons, maybe work part time doing make up for occasions..what level of training would I need for this? I'm in the UKHow to train as a make up artist?
Have a look at the colleges in your area, especially the ones that lean toward the more vocational side, not just the normal a-levels
Edexcel do some courses, here's the links

Depending on your age you may be able to just do a few hours every week and keep up a job, the extra money might come in handy while you're trying to get off your feetHow to train as a make up artist?
For private make-up lessons is not hard to get into. Ever heard of Mary Kay cosmetics. They train you through their skills booklets for their beauty consultants. The cost is very minimal and you get the training needed. You'll go right into giving make-up classes along with selling her products until you can break out on your own. When you said make-up artist
my first thought was like that in the entertainment field where
they are so highly skilled that I think one would have to go to
not just a beauty school but some sort of painters class, focusing on highlighting and tone-downs and the like. Wow,
that has got to be a really good paying job, I'd like to do something like that. Like using make-up to transform a face like a lion or something, just using make-up.
Well I don't know if your qualifications are the same as ours in the US but makeup artist don't require any specific training. You can attend a makeup academy but most makeup artists I know are freelance artists.
Go to a beauty school. This way you can get professional skills and you will get a lot more business. You will also be able to charge more because you have education in beauty.

How can i get a job as a make-up artist in london and like how much would i get paid?
do i need to take any qualification exams? How can i get a job as a make-up artist in london and like how much would i get paid?
Academic qualifications arent always as important as is your creative skill. You can still become a makeup artist without any special education but it's still advised to get some qualifications before you start offering your services. The London College of Fashion offers a 2 year foundation degree in specialist makeup design, as well as many shorter courses. It never hurts to learn new techniques! :)
You're going to need alot of cosmetics and some of the brushes can be expensive but if this is really want you want, I say go for it, and have fun.
It may be good for you if you gain professional experience by working under another makeup artist or such at first. Working with a photographer would be great, too. You could gain more experience that way and start building a name for yourself; request copies of your work though for your portfolio. Carry a portfolio around with you to show prospective clients/employers your previous works. You can post ads online offering your services, tell your friends, network connections if any, post fliers, and so on. Searching ads can also be helpful; you may find a small production company in need of talent as well as artists.
Payscale varies... Starting out, try not to expect a glamorous paycheck (try 50-150 a day), but dont sell yourself short/cheap either. Have high hopes because with alot of experience and amazing skill, some of the better paid artists working for fashion shows and events earn around 3,000 a day.
Good luck! :)How can i get a job as a make-up artist in london and like how much would i get paid?
Pixiebell that was uncalled for, we are not all English undergraduate students like yourself. Report Abuse
your question is ingrammatical.
why is the word 'like' inserted in this question! Would you write that in an essay. NO so what is wrong with using correct english on here. Dont you know how to spell?
Forget having a job, you SERIOUSLY need help with your grammar.
It depends where you are working. Most beauty companies will take you on without much make up experience and train you to apply makeup with their products. If you are looking for a career though-thats a different story, most make up artists work for free to get their names known in the industry and its a long road!
Salaries in London vary depending on where you work and your experience-for the top salaries go for Selfridges and Harrods.

How Do you Write a Make Up Artist CV?
how do i write a make up artist cv? what should be on it?How Do you Write a Make Up Artist CV?
Any paid jobs should be listed, as well as any training you have taken, if you have done tests with well known photographers. References of course, anything that is on a normal CV but it should be centred around make up experience. Try searching your favourite artist sites and look at their resumes and see how they have formatted theirs and what type of work they include. Don't copy their format, but just use it to guide you.

Or you can go to your local thrift stores {like salvation army, vlaue village} and pick up some used furniture, and with some imagination make it into your make up table, these stores are great for mirrors. If you search Yahoo with the words D I Y {do-it-yourself} and make-up tables, or look under make-up tips etc. you will find plenty. Don't be lazy, keep creative and look!!!

Would a make up artist tell you that you are ugly?
Ever since 5th grade kids have always told me that I was ugly? I have only had family members, a teacher, and a make up artist tell me that I am pretty? Why? Was he just saying that because I called myself ugly? Or did he really think that I was pretty and everyone else was just being mean? Or was he just lying? Would a make up artist tell you that you are ugly?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But no one should ever tell another person they are ugly, That is just too rude and mean. Look all around there is someone for everyone and that means somebody didn't think they were ugly, Proving the Beauty is in the eye of the beholder theory.Would a make up artist tell you that you are ugly?
I would sure hope that a makeup artist wouldn't tell you that you are ugly. However, whether or not he's lying is up to his conscience versus your self esteem. But, a cosmetician usually sees the bone structure and potential and what you can become with their makeup. Also, many people aren't ugly, they just need to learn how to better groom, and style and makeup and take care of themselves. So, if you went and got a makeover, (maybe get a few) look in the mirror, and tell yourself what you think, with all outsider thoughts away. If you want to send me a picture privately by email (so as not to embarrass yourself) you may, and I'll let you know any tips, I might have that could possibly help in this fashion. Otherwise, chinup. Beauty really IS in the eye of the beholder. And if you like what you see, then you'll gain confidence. If you gain confidence, that's half the battle right there. Because, more than beauty, other people see self confidence. That in itself is a beautiful trait. Good luck.
never think of yourself as ugly, everybody is beautiful in their own way. don't let people put you down and make you feel bad about yourself.
A make up artist should be able to find beauty in anyone or at least be able to see the best features a person has, maybe that's what he/she did with you. Kids can be mean, especially if they are jealous of you, don't take what they say to heart. If you feel good about yourself then that's all that matters.
idk.......if that kids say that 2u, give em' a hit
Well it sounds like you are going around saying ';I'm Ugly';. 5th grade kids are pretty mean, so I wouldn't let there opinion affect me. Do you need people to tell you whether you are petty or ugly? Can't you tell when you look in the mirror? If someone asked me if I thought they were pretty, I would say yes just so I wouldn't hurt there feelings. You need confidence. xox
everyone that called you ugly are jerks and lying. They are trying to hurt your feelings. Every one is pretty in their own way. Your self esteem is hurt. Please realize pretty is more then looks it is who you are too.

If your in the uk, in the middlands area, how do you get work as a make up artist?
I live in the middlands and was wondering how you can get work as a make up artist? By the way im a teenager, looking into makeup as a career. If your in the uk, in the middlands area, how do you get work as a make up artist?
If you do the right courses you should meet people who work in that field. If not there are definitely Broadcasting Studio's around there who will use Makeup Artists for the TV people. If not try some beauty salons (specially places that do wedding styling) or even modelling agencies.
In these kind of careers ALWAYS ask for work experience first! They will take you onboard if you are good but if not then at least you have the experience. If you dont want to get into anything like that maybe try going to a salon and (providing you have the right qualifications) suggesting they start up a makeup section and offer your services?
Theres so many different things you can do, and no need to be in Central London either!

I am looking for a make up artist to pluck my eyelashes?
im looking for someone to pluck my eyelashes out for me and glue on false ones perminately.most salons dodent wonna no.but
i real wonna do this so any advice or offers to do it are welcome.
look forward to kind replys.I am looking for a make up artist to pluck my eyelashes?
why would you want to do that? just put the false ones on with your real ones over time the real ones will fall out or get pulled out it is just a matter of timeI am looking for a make up artist to pluck my eyelashes?
Why would you wanna do that? Just put false ones on with your natural ones. You can get individual false ones and just put on a few or get a whole set of falsies. Some high end salons will put on semi-permanent lashes but it is expensive and it takes hours-however, they will not pluck out all of your natural ones. I am not sure if these are glued on or done another way. Also, I think they only last for a few months so you will have to keep doing it on a regular basis-it could get expensive! Plucking out all of your lashes would probably be really painful by the way!
Leave well alone. Sounds too painful.
if i where you i would not do that
and the homo is back rofl
this is dangerous, eyelashes protect eyes, u could harm eyes.
just get u some mascara and put on the real eyelashes
folks pluck eyebrows, not lashes
That's so stupid. Just put fake ones on with your real ones. Even if they pluck them out, they'll grow back so you might as well save yourself the trouble and avoid the freak face you'd be left with.
omg dean, your male, want glossy lips and wanted to paint nail polish on them?!?! Now you want to pluck your eyelashes out and put fake ones in?!?! OMG! your turning into a plastic micheal jackson!
Be happy with who you are and stay like you are!
Bad Idea
Plucking out your eyelashes is a very bad idea. You need them to protect your eyes. The eye is a very delicate thing and if you got an infection from plucking the eyelashes out (like an ingrown hair or something) you might risk your overall eye health.
Also, I'm not sure how well false eyelashes would stay in place without your own eyelashes to support them.
I'm very curious why you want to pluck out your eyelashes??? If they are too straight you can curl them with an eyelash curler. If they're too short, you can enhance them with false ones.
ladies its a bloke asking this question think about it - their all idiots!!
heres what u do mate
1 pluck ur own eye lashes
2 superglue fake eye lashes to your eye lid
3 hope for the best
lol im just kidding
Why would you want to do that? I don't think there is any sort of glue that will glue them on permanently, they will fall off after a while, even if only as your skin renews itself.

Considering a move to paris is there potential for work as a make up artist coming in from Scotland? ?
I am considering leaving scotland for Paris, I am a trained make up artist with years of experience in theatre, film and fashion. I would like to being to work and live there even in the short term, any advice would be gratefully recieved. Considering a move to paris is there potential for work as a make up artist coming in from Scotland? ?
First you need to be totally fluent in French, way beyond degree level.
Second you would need to be an outstanding make up artist, very original and quite gifted.
Third, the competition for this type of work is fierce and most vacancies are filled by personal recommendation.
In reality your chances are slim to noneConsidering a move to paris is there potential for work as a make up artist coming in from Scotland? ?
Perhaps you may to offer your service to the tourist ladies in a exclusive boutique or just where the photographer and painter are making pictures. I thing, a lady prefers to look nicely before being cought in the act.
It's really hard to get a job in the branches you ask. To be good, it's not enough.
Try a year in Paris, rent a place and give it a go. You have nothing to lose, your life experience will be richer if not you pocket.

How do i become a professional make-up artist?
Practice doing your own make-up, then friends %26amp; family, and then for proms %26amp; weddings. Of course go into cosmetology if you can and get a license for that. Then you may want to go to beauty college or college for business if you'd like to open a salon . Keep in mind there are so many make up artists out there! You have to be original..and alot of make up artists just end up in retail their whole lives. Oh and if you want to get exposure, make youtube videos showing your skills! How do i become a professional make-up artist?

My friend is a professional make-up artist and I want to get her a set of nice brushes engraved with her name?
does anyone know of any websites that provide this kind of service? My friend is a professional make-up artist and I want to get her a set of nice brushes engraved with her name?
If she is a professional makeup artist, it's more than likely that she already has a quality set of brushes. Have you thought about a nice brush roll or case instead? Many retail outlets do embroidery, so you could easily order a fabric brush roll and have her name embroidered / screen printed etc on.My friend is a professional make-up artist and I want to get her a set of nice brushes engraved with her name?
coastal scents makes reely good brushes but i dunno if they woul provide this kinda service. I would suggest calling them and asking.

What do i need to prepare for to become a make-up artist?
i am an inspiring mkae-up artist and i need to know what the best schools are to go to. I also and interested in doing hair. im a senior in high school and im about to graduate i have been taking cosmotolgy in school. but i also want to go to a school for it. i live in maryland is there any schools around there?
i want to do hair and make-up for celbrites or rich people.. but i need help to figure out where to start. someone please help me thanksWhat do i need to prepare for to become a make-up artist?
Get your degree, get practice, keep photos of your work, and then head to NY or CA. Once there you should be able to find a school that you can continue to train with while you are working. Then start applying for jobs as an apprentice, particularly working with photographers to do make up and hair for their clients shoots.
Then it just builds from there. What do i need to prepare for to become a make-up artist?
http://www.beautyschoolsdirectory.com/fi鈥?/a>
this is a listing of schools here in Maryland, I would first build a good clientele here before heading away from home, save pics and build your portfolio...dont think you need to only serve the rich or famous to make money, I am planning my weddng and I am going to have to pay 100.00 just for someone to do MY make-up that day thats not including the 75.00 each for my bridesmaids or the $$$$ to have my hair done...Are you going to graduate with a certificate in cosmetology? if so you can start work at any salon(probably not the best ones since you wont have much experience)while you are going to school you can work and get the experience needed to get a better job.Once you've got the experience and schooling under your belt and have a good portfolio then you can start contacting some of the large cosmetics companies and salons in NY and CA. With enough experience you can actually become a consultant for the large companies themselves..ie MAC and Bobbie Brown or even an independant dealer/cosmetologist.Good Luck.

Can you become a make up artist w/out going to school?
I am really into make up and want to become a make up artist. Do you have to take the State Board to do that? I have a lot of books and CDs and I have everything make up artist needs(eye shadows, brushes and etc.). I do not want to go to school because it is something I want to do on a side and dont want to spend money on the school cuz I am in Dental School and already paying a lot of money for that. Can you become a make up artist w/out going to school?
Yes. Try getting hired at Sephora as a floor sales person. Show em what you can do and they will employ you as one.Can you become a make up artist w/out going to school?
It's always good to get a full education. Keep your options open, because what you want now might not be the same in later life. At least with an education you can go to university and get a degree later on.
you have to go to school unless u can have people come to u and you do it

How do I get some more work as a make-up artist?
Hi,
I just moved to UK 4 months ago, so I'm starting my whole life and career from the beginning .I'm fully qualified make up artist and hair stylist. How I can advertise myself (free, I can't afford paid ones yet) ? Just to help a bit , I do bridal make up, worked on the model shoots .I would be greatfull for some help and ideas.
Thanks :)How do I get some more work as a make-up artist?
Internet - modeling sites such as purestorm etc
free newspapers (loot) etc
send mails to photographers
local free papers
cards in local stores
local hairdressers
local colleges
etc
etc
etcHow do I get some more work as a make-up artist?
If you talk to some hairdressers, find out if they have a wedding hair cut coming up, do a few wedding/prom makeovers for free and see what hairdressers think and give them your card so they can recommend you for makeup to customers (until you can get a name for yourself to do hair).
Also advertising on the internet does help. See if your local area has a website or a local newspaper, put an advert in there.
Good luck.
Go to youtube, if you didn't hear about panacea81, check her youtube channel http://uk.youtube.com/user/panacea81
She became very famous, because of youtube. She worked with barry m, making online tutorials, and now she is making her own make-up line. Very lucky girl.
P.S. all happened in one year!!
Try to build a relationship with local wedding photographers/videographers, bridal dress shops and any other service related to weddings. They can refer you to some of their clients.

Sometimes, the makeup artists in the department store will give free makeup jobs as a one-time thing. I doubt if they would keep doing it, though.

How do you become a MAC make-up artist?
A MAC,( or channel, clinque, ect), artist like the ones you see at the mall. I tried to apply at a MAC counter one day %26amp; they wanted my ressume? Im a twenty year old college drop out who has waited tables since I was 17. What are they looking for? Surely not a college diploma. ThanksHow do you become a MAC make-up artist?
well maybe some experience in make-up might help?
you have to be able to apply make-up on people that walk in and want their make up done, and you have to know what you are talking about to a certain extent or at least be good at doing make-up.
Maybe do a cert 2 in make-up?
And with clinique and estee lauder they have a fair bit of skin care so maybe knowing something about skin? How do you become a MAC make-up artist?
When they ask you for a resume they want all your experiences. Resumes don't nessicarily have to be filled with college credits and such, experience and hard work does show through...
But if you were Mac would you want to hire someone with no makeup experience that was unable to fill out a resume?
You need to have a decent portfolio, and then fill out an application..
take some makeup classes. cosmetology or whatever

Why do some hair stylist and make-up artist that give advice looks crappy themselves ?
If some hair stylist gives advice what a person do with a person's hair, when the stylist's has five different colors in and spiked. Why do some hair stylist and make-up artist that give advice looks crappy themselves ?
Because all their time is taken up by making others look good. If they're worth anything, they're constantly busy and don't have a free moment to primp themselves. Besides, if they do a good job, *that* is what keeps them busy, not what they look like themselves. Why do some hair stylist and make-up artist that give advice looks crappy themselves ?
Sometimes you can give advice to someone else better than you can yourself. most good hairstylist can not do their own hair. If you ever noticed all of the best look like the need beautician themselves.
Those that can't, teach.
It is just like mechanics who drive crappy cars, when you do something for other people all day, you tend not to do it for yourself
You know I was wondering the same thing, its just sad. And its even worse if they are the ones that do the stars hair and makeup.

Does being a make-up artist in hollywood and/or new york pay good?
what is a good paying job that is in the entertainment business? if i were to become a make-up artist would that be a dumb movie? could i live comfortably in new york or l.a?Does being a make-up artist in hollywood and/or new york pay good?
depends on what you consider comfortable. Ny is expensive and even the cheaper areas are getting run out by the yuppies. The level of competition is also extremely high and you have hundreds of people competing for the same job. It's a good field though because if you're good, you'll work fashion week, you'll work other random shows, you'll have celebrity client, and you'll be working on movies sets but to me that's big time. I think working freelance or in a spa/salon, you'll make enough to live on with a little extra but you definitely won't be laying up in the ritz. It all depends on who you know, where you work, and how determined you are. I made roughly 2-3 k a month and ended up spending a good majority on rent. You get paid more here but the cost of living is so high that all of your money just seems to disappear. I get by though, have nice things, go out, always have extra cash on hand and my bills are paid so i say i live comfortably but some may say it's not. you may live better in the nj area and working in NY.

I'll tell you my way of achieving what you want. Become self employed. Firstly start off by studying beauty, do an NVQ, AS Level, BTEC or whatever in beauty. Basically, become qualified. Start off your own small business by doing mobile beauty, going to people's homes and doing their make up. You'll make good money out of this all you need to do is save up for the tools you need and promote your little business. After the mobile business set up your own little parlour. You can be the make up artist who employs other make up artists, hairdressers, hair removers, etc. Start small and become big, just get them qualifications first. it's really not that hard to set up a mobile business.
This should help :)
you could work in a pharmacy like boots, and gain experience in that field. you could become one of the people who give free makeovers in Debenhams or one of those big department stores. if there are any colleges/universities to you which offer beauty courses, i would take one :) they could be invaluable. i feel that this is my chosen field as well and this is what i would do. good luck :) oh, and if there are any beauty salons near you, you could gain some work experience there too. do your research, good luck xx
Here's an interview with a makup artist who has over 20 years of experience in the field: http://blogs.payscale.com/salarystories/鈥?/a> She discusses the industry, what it takes to get started, the average salary for a make up artist, and other advice.
Hope that helps

You should learn about cosmetics. In your area if there is a Sephora you should go check it out. My sister learn A LOT of information about makeup and the works from there.

How do i become a make up artist?
what do i do? i live in the uk?How do i become a make up artist?
If you've done beauty therapy NVQ, you should have covered basic makeup including, Day, Evening, false lashes and special occasion makeup.
See if you're college or any college's near you have a makeup diploma course. That's how i got into the industry.
As i don't know where you live, But i trained at Milton Keynes college, and there are many more colleges around the UK that do an introduction one or two year course that covers everything from Day makeup, evening, photographic, body painting, special Fx, catwalk makeup, avant guard makeup, wig work, basic hair dressing and basic beauty therapy. That can then go on to go to Universities like Southampton and London College of Fashion (and many more of course) or you can go into full time work with a makeup company and work up through the company like that, or you can become free lance.
Research into it and see if you can get on any courses. You'll learn so much and it's a really fun and rewarding experience.
I wish you the best of luck,
Its a great industry to be in.

I work for MAC too, but you have to be a qualified Makeup artist to work for the company. its in the contract. How do i become a make up artist?
I don't know about the UK, but I KNOW a few things about MAC cosmetics because it is my third year of working for it.
I didn't go to cosmetology school, I was just talented at doing my own make-up. I would start applying to a department store, where there is a particular make-up counter that you like.
But really, its practice, practice, practice. I learned most of what I know at the counter. Cosmo school works for if you want to become a freelancer and need a certificate or if you become an Eustachian.
Cosmo school. You also have to be very talented and be able to apply makeup to other people, and to apply to various eye/face shapes, tones, etc. And you have to consider that a job like that could require a lot of hours. OR that you might not even get a job in the field.
Only go for something like this if it's a passion, meaning that you can't even see yourself doing anything else.
Go to a cosmetology school. Apply for jobs at makeup salons and stuff. One school in England:

practice. no you dont need to go to school for it. with yerr own experience and passion you can do it but too bad cuz thats my dream so back off.hair tips

Where can I find a ';Home Visit'; make up artist ?
I am a Southampton ';Cross dresser'; %26amp; like to go out in the evening looking gorgeous but am in need of ';make up'; training. Ideally i'd like a professional person to visit me on the night %26amp; do all the work for me. Can you help ?Where can I find a ';Home Visit'; make up artist ?
My best advice: go to a drag or cabaret club and talk to some of the performers. Be honest with them and tell them what you're interested in doing. Many of them will give you tips and tricks.
In college, I had a drag queen for a roommate. Honestly, she was the like the mother I never had. Noting like waking up in the morning to the sound of Barbara Streisand singing ';Pretty Women';, with a 300 pound bald man in half-drag and wearing a floral caftan, lipsyncing with a spatula as his microphone.
Even though I'm a girl, he took me under his proverbial wing and taught me how best to work with what I had and enhance it. Makeup, clothes, hair -- the works. Being a big girl in drag, he truly knew how to make himself look good and helped me out a great deal.
Just like they said in To Wong Foo -- ';Nothing this pretty could be real...'; It's true. Men that dress in drag have to work hard to look as good as they do, and there are tons of women that could use a few lessons from them -- myself included!
I just thought of another idea -- watch RuPaul's Drag Race show! It is really incredible to see the transformation of some of the performers like Nina Flowers, Ongina, Bebe Zahara Benet, Rebecca Glasscock -- http://www.logoonline.com/shows/dyn/rupa鈥?/a>
Trust me, it's incredible!!! They are absolutely fabulous!
In your position and for what you'd like to do -- make a big ol' drag queen your very best friend!! Cross dressers tend to just look like men in women's clothing. A drag queen would be able to offer and teach you the best outcome.
Good luck! I wish you all the best!

How much does it cost to have a professional make up artist do your makeup on your wedding day?
It depends on where you live. I had my makeup done for a family portrait last year and I paid $75.00. I have heard other people say they have paid any where from 25 to 150 dollars. Get a list on places in your area that do makeup, You can do that by using Yahoo locals, or Yahoo yellow pages. call them up and get estaments. Congrats on you up coming wedding. How much does it cost to have a professional make up artist do your makeup on your wedding day?
Go to any department store and ask around at the make-up counters..places like Lancome, Clinique, and Estee Lauder should do this for free..How much does it cost to have a professional make up artist do your makeup on your wedding day?
Why don't you get in touch with a MARY KAY consultant and they will do some make up training with you for free and then you can try the products !! If you like her you could book her to do your wedding make up . It will cost approx 拢30
merele norman... its free when u buy $30 worth of makeup or just pay $30.... better to buy the makeup... its awesome just had a makeover this weekend for a wedding...
I've paid $40 or $50. If you go to a Mac or Lancome counter they'll do it beautifully and its about $35 in purchases so you actually get to keep some of the make up.
I am a make up artist.Usually for the bride I take the equivalent of $40 while for the mother of the bride and the brides maid I take $20 each.Remember it's your wedding.i am sure that you want to be the most beautiful amongst all the ladies.I know it already costs a lot to do a wedding but you'll be satisfied at the end.Just be honest with your make up artist.if you dont like the colors she used or the job as a whole just tell her you're payiong her.Good luck
You should hire someone from MAC to do it......its not expensive and the make up they do is AWESOME!!! my sister had her make done by them and she LOOKED beautiful..I mean she's already beautiful, but the makeup accentuated everything in a great way!!
about $50
just go to macy's its free with a 50$ purchase. if you wanna go the cheap way plus you get stuff!
happy wedding!
Hi! You should try a Mary Kay consultant! Just go to Marykay.com and type in your zip and it will show you one near you! They will do it for free and if you like they will do it on your wedding day! Be careful with MAC, they tend to be very dramatic! Not so natural! Good Luck and Happy Wedding!
i know this isn't answering your question...but...
i would just do it yourself, because you don't want to stand out on your wedding day, but look like YOU. normally when someone else does your make-up, they don't get the feeling of who you are, and make you like someone you aren't--it's like wearing a mask.
just wear your ';everyday'; make-up, but maybe apply a different blush or shiny lip gloss. ;-)hair tips

Yes they would tell you to do that i know someone who has experience being a make-up artists and she had to do special effects make-upDo make up artist have to do special effects makeup?
No you wouldn't have to do that if you worked for a specific make-up company like MAC, or L'Oreal, etc. I think you're thinking about stage-make up which is a whole other career path in iteslf.
No, Not at all!! If that is something you want to do then try it out! I work as a MUA and not all of ours do special effects.
Im a makeup artist and no i have never had to do special effects.
However its pretty easy and really cool to learn.
They just put a lot of blush on a person's face so it gets all powdery.

What classes should i take in high school if i want to be a make-up artist?
im a freshman in high school nd i want to be a make-up artist when i'm older. What classes should i take for it?What classes should i take in high school if i want to be a make-up artist?
I don't think there's much for that field in high school...but def ask your guidance counselor. You will want to look into cosmetology schools after you graduateWhat classes should i take in high school if i want to be a make-up artist?
um check with guidence or something to see if there are any classes or if you have a system where you can go off campus to another site designed for that field. i know some schools has that. if you don't want to ask guidence ask a good friend that is older (sophomore, junior, senior, recent grad) and see if there are any options
good luck
Depends on what you want to do. If you want to do stage make-up, then I would recommend drama or theater-tech classes.
Otherwise, art classes are what I would recommend, specifically drawing or painting.
I would say get into drama because they are always in need of makeup artists for plays and that can get you some practice. Also basic art classes just to get you a solid background, because makeup is a lot like paint.
Check with the school you would like to attend. At the local beauty school here, students can go to the school while they are in high school, get high school credits and graduate from both schools at the same time, ready to work.

How can i get a job as a make-up artist in london and like how much would i get paid?
do i need to take any qualification exams? How can i get a job as a make-up artist in london and like how much would i get paid?
make up artists usually have to be qualified in their field.however i am a qualified makeup artist i trained at a modelling agency.i can give you tips upon how to do this.
firstly if you can apply makeup on a face with varius different looks you could be on your way.secondly keep practising this maybe on your friends to achieve this if they let you. if you ca do this then i will suggest buy a whole load of makeup from ebay which is quite cheap different colours etc. then apply for freelancing jobs as a makeup artist in anything. yes i know it can be nerve racking however schooling is very expensive. then what you have to do is build a portfolio of your work from everything you do. freelancing artistry will get paid for travel expenses only, you may get paid alternativly by ';timecd'; this is when your work that you have done is put on a disk and then you can put your images in your portfolio. once after you have a lot of work in your portfolio then take it to agencies.
you have to have a portfolio of your work that you have done or no one will take you on.

you need to train first and get qualified first you need to do a course try going to www.amershamandwycombe college.ac.uk for further information and anycourses.
Yes you do.
You need to train with a make-up artist and the pay is not good while you are learning.
If you can get over that and do well you could be earning a lot..for example..my Mother In law was Head of make up on Corrie and she was earning in excess of 50K plus..but she has been doing it for 20+ years!!

You don't have to go to school... I didn't go to school and I get lots of freelance jobs. =/ I am going to school though in the next couple of months. I probably won't learn anything but to get a ';certificate'; so I can get a job at an actual makeup place, and have ';experience';.
The honest answer on what it takes to become one: Practice, on different faces, eyes, everyones canvas is different so you have to be able to work with someone who has a really defined crease, or someone who has no crease. Someone who has 2-3 chins, someone with a really pointy face. You have to be able to alter any face shape to the ideal oval face. You need to know how to sculpt and shape and do whatever. If you can do all that you're set.
You need to talk like a regular person. I mean, your using a silver tounge. Talk less formal. Well, you need to practice. If you are still in middle, or high school, you need to practice on other people or yourself. Then, when going to college, make sure you apply for ones that focus mainly on cosmetology.
one becomes a makeup artist when they start talking like they are from this century..

There are few jobs that offer so many benefits. As a makeup artist you will have the satisfaction of making your vision a reality.
A makeup artist is intimately involved in the most important and exciting events of people's lives, from weddings to the Academy Awards. Makeup artists get to work with celebrities such as models, actors, politicians, and musicians.

I'm not really sure how they get paid, or how much. Good Luck. How can i become a make up artist?
You start in cosmotology. There's many private schools listed in the yellow pages. Not sure of the cost. You could ask any stylist about where to start.
You can go to beauty school. You can also seek out work at a make-up counter at the mall. Often they will train you on the correct application of their make-up while they give you pointers on selling it as well. Once you have enough experience, you could likely work at weddings, spas, portrait studios, funeral homes, nursing homes, hospitals, modeling shows or magazines, TV and movie studios, and even more places.
The amount of money you make would depend on your particular specialization. TV and movie artists not only get paid well, but you are also eligible to win awards, like an Oscar or Golden Globe Award. Nursing homes and funeral homes likely wouldn't pay as much, but it would be steady work. As for weddings, you can charge whatever you think is fair. Portrait studios would pay you whatever the going rate is for the job in their industry. Modeling shows and magazines would likely pay well. What matters most is that you enjoy your job and make enough money to cover all your needs.
I don't know if you'd be the envy of all your friends. My friends generally aren't envious of me -- but I'm not a famous make-up artist. ;-)
It takes time to get noticed in the make-up industry. Don't expect success overnight. But, if you work hard and people recommend your work to their friends, you'll be on the road to success.
Some technical colleges would likely offer courses you could take to get certified. I would take a look at the technical schools near you to see what they offer.
It wouldn't hurt to take art classes. You can learn about color and the way certain colors work together well and what not to do with certain colors, too.
The second website is one that I thought would be a good starting point in your search for a career in make-up.
Good luck!
To become a make-up artist (a professional one - not just someone who does it for their friends), you have to go to college. I've included a link to a school here in Toronto that you can use as a reference...
As for how much you will make - that really varies. It would all depend on if you work for a company (such as M.A.C), or if you offer your individual services. THIS is where the big bucks are - imagine landing a contract to work as THE artist for a modelling company...
And for being the envy - of course! THEY will be BEGGING for you to do their makeup for them - not to mention the sort of people who could be your potential clents ;););)

How much does it cost to get your make-up done by a make-up artist?
People say I'm pretty, so I want to know how pretty I can be, and it seems like I cannot put make-up on right because no one taught me, and I don't know which make-up to use and stuff like that, so I was thinking about going to a make-up artist to do my make-up.How much does it cost to get your make-up done by a make-up artist?
I dont know, but as for you at home just start with some mascara and fairly nuetral blush, they go a long way! Oh and invest in a good blush brush, (have them at walmart even) ..the ones that come with blushes are crap-ola.
If you do go to a pro ask them to teach you some tricks as they apply. How much does it cost to get your make-up done by a make-up artist?
i have the same problem and i am going to the bodyshop and its free
they do it for free in the malls like at dillards or macys

Ladies in your opinion would you rather have a male or female make-up artist?
I am a professional Make-Up artist and this has only happened a few times but certain ladies have said they would rather have a female artist. Then I have had ladies who swear that just like their hairdresser they will only go to men. Something about trust is usually their answer so I was just wondering what you ladies thought about this. Thanks for you time.Ladies in your opinion would you rather have a male or female make-up artist?
Honestly, I would prefer a guy to be my makeup artist!
It sounds weird, but it would be more comfortable for me.
I noticed men in the cosmetic industry are so talented %26amp; have more techniques %26amp; tricks. They bring more to the table in the cosmetic world with more originality %26amp; quality. They master the art into their own. I would absolutely adore if the late Kevyn Aucoin could do a session with me :)
but that obviously can't happen- but can't a girl dream? ;)
I guarantee you're awesome %26amp; wicked in that profession.
Take Care %26amp; Good Luck :)Ladies in your opinion would you rather have a male or female make-up artist?
Please don't be offended but I think it's because most male makeup artists tend to be homosexual. I think sometimes it's a matter of homophobia rather than sex. I personally prefer male makeup artists, whether gay or straight, because as someone said earlier they don't get catty/jealous and from what I've seen, tend to be more professional. Of course, women do their makeup on a daily basis so you know they've had practice/experience. I guess to answer your question, to me, it doesn't matter. As long as you know what you're doing of course!
Both are fine by me.
Ladies because they're USED to wearing make-up and they know what's right. They can give good tips on applying it and their experiences since most guys just don't wear make-up.
Men because they have good taste and know what kinda make-up guys like girls wearing. And they seem more professional and probably do a better job.
For me, i don't think trust is the right answer. I would feel more secure having a guy do my make-up because they would stick with neutral- yet stunning make-up. While the ladies do wacky crazy colors/make-up!
well every hair dresser I've had that was male was kinda you know fruity. i think that's why some women don't like male make-up artists, but i personally have no problem. most people think if a guy does hair they are fruits, but that is not true. i know lots of guys who do stuff like that but are not you know, fruitcakes. i actually think it's kool to have a male mack-up artist, if i had 1, that would be nifty!!!!!!!
I don't care if they are male or female. I just care if they understand my skin (or hair). For ex., I think my Middle Eastern hairdresser is great with my hair because he understands natural curl. I don't like anyone in his shop working on my makeup because I have a peaches and cream complexion. The few times I let them do my makeup they made it too dark/heavy.
I will not choose a makeup artist simply based on gender, but on experience. However, of all the hairstylists and make up artists I have come across, the ones whose work I like are all male. It is strange but it seems that the 'sissy', 'gay-ish' and feminine guys do a much better job.
i have a guy at MAC. if i go there and he is not there, i just keep walking by. he is amazing and remembers all of the makeup i have bought (even if he doesn't know m y name..haha). he's beautiful! :) :)
the woman tend to talk you into things, while my guy does whatever i tell him to do. gotta love that! haha!
Hey srry cuz i'm a man.......
bt tell me one thing...
Is it not a man who can tell whether a woman is looking good?? Ofcourse..opposite sex knows the opposite one.
And after all, what are the woman making up for??? For luking attractive right?? And whom do they want to look attractive to/? MEN ofcourse...(nt women....unless).
So if they aremade up by men too....that'll be something kind of, *sure shot*.......
So I believe MEn should be doing this........
I have a man do my hair and nails and i would let a man do my make-up to i feel that men do a better job but thats just me.
Male, because the men know what they like on ladies!! Like, they can say what they think is hott, and what's not. =D
[: *~dRuMmErGiRl~* :]
I like men much better because women tend to be catty and jealous and the men can be professional and just do their job.
I prefer to do my own makeup, but I wouldn't really care if my makeup artist was male or female so long as they knew what they were doing.
I am a lady and I think that girls tend to prefer female make-up artists because since usually men don;t wear make-up, I suppose we feel....more secure? At least that's is how I feel :)
i feel a woman would be more biased to do your makeup simular to theirs because thats what they know best and since a man dos not wear makeup hes more creative
i prefer a girl because i guess i feel
they have more experience putting it on.
Because most guys don't wear make-up.
It doesn't really matter to me, males and be just as good as men. =)

Are there many those who want to be a celebrity or a make-up artist without academic aspiration in USA?
In Japan, many high school students, who want to get kinda cool job (like a singer, movie star, fashion designer, pro-musician, pro-make-up artist etc.) tends to go to vocational school instead of university (of course it's not so possible). So I wonder whether such a student is unique in Japan. Please let me know american high school student's aspiration. Are there many those who want to be a celebrity or a make-up artist without academic aspiration in USA?
Well, the aspirations of American high school students are very diverse. Usually, there are a very few students who aspire to be a celebrity or a make-up artist instead of going to an university because the chances are slim and risky.
Unless they have been brought up to perform or have connections in the entertainment industry, students usually go for the academics.
I can't speak for everyone in the US, but I'm thinking about going into medical school or business, because I have no artistic talent what so ever. But also because there's only a slim chance in becoming famous.

Any tips or good links: Photographer and Make-up artist forming one business?
Have you got any ideas, tips or links to advise a photographer and make-up artist who want to become a team and open a small business together. Have you got clever ideas for combining their talents, for advertising, in fact tips for how to start their business together. Neither of them have an established clientele yet, although they have portfolios and all the equipment they will need. They both have passion for what they do. What is the best way for the two of them to set up shop? They are both married to other people.Any tips or good links: Photographer and Make-up artist forming one business?

Hi there,
It is always good to set up a website for starters. Then look into advertising locally - such as pamphlets, flyers, etc to be put into post boxes and handed out at robots.
You can get radio stations to publicise you. I know that Tuks FM has this capability, and Jacaranda as well. There should be free places as well.
Then you could look into advertising in small newspapers and magazines. Attend shows with a booth - for instance, you could sign up to have a booth at a bridal show. Offer your services together for brides.
It may be simpler to run your ';office'; from home to begin with, and once you have set up your clientele and are bringing in enough money, you could rent out a small office - again continuing with your advertising.
Well, I hope that helps a little.
Kind regards,
Angela of Panthera Tours

Where can I find good quality make up artist kits for cheaper than buying retail (like MAC)?
I am most interested in a variety of eyeshadows to come sold all in one package. MAC shadows could easily run my budget into the ground, is there any alternatives?Where can I find good quality make up artist kits for cheaper than buying retail (like MAC)?
try nyx cosmetics! it is sooo cheap and it is extremely pigmented! i love their eyeshadows and it is worth ten times more than what you pay for. im also excited about their new brushes they are previwing (it looks like nyx is copying the 188-187 brushs from MAC http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/Main_Pages/p鈥?/a> )
dont take my word for it, pursebuzz did a review about nyx too!

I think WetN'Wild is a good alternative. It's not the best in the world, but it is quite usable. Basically, if you know how to apply makeup well, then brand should not be a problem, even if it is really cheap.
I started using cover girl and neutrogena too. Usually i would use half, if i feel like the quality might be similiar. Like I would use blush and eyeshadow from Cover girl and use mascara and lip gloss from wet n' wild. Only because Wet N wild (or cheaper brands) does not carry all the colors needed by different individuals. Like they only come in 3 colors of blush and cover girl might have more available. =)
beauty supply stores usually have a good selection or Cover Girl and other WalMart brands work well and are cheaper than MAC although MAC is theeee best
You can try Walgreens!
You could try www.elf.com This site is what I use. I hope you like it too, plus it is cheap.
Rimmel. I especially love their eye shadow quads that come in smokey colors. This brand has the only inexpensive eyeshadow that I am happy with. You can find it at Walmart, Walgreens, and CVS. Kate Moss is their spokes model.
try nyx cosmetics! it is sooo cheap and it is extremely pigmented! i love their eyeshadows and it is worth ten times more than what you pay for. im also excited about their new brushes they are previwing (it looks like nyx is copying the 188-187 brushs from MAC http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/Main_Pages/p鈥?/a> )
dont take my word for it, pursebuzz did a review about nyx too!

How or where to apply for make-up artist jobs in retail?
I'm looking for any other places outside of Estee Lauder's companies careers. Such as No.7, Max factor, Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent
, Givenchy, Clarins countersetct.
I'm open to any suggestions from beauty or make-up artist professionals.
ThanksHow or where to apply for make-up artist jobs in retail?
just go up to the counter with your CV and ask for the manager, either hand it in or send it off to the address %26amp; name they give you..How or where to apply for make-up artist jobs in retail?
Department stores found in the local mall such as macy's and lord %26amp; taylor tend to sell those products and need beauty advisors or make-up artists. I believe that they do work on commission or that commission is part of how they make their salary.
For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'barbers, cosmetologists and other personal appearance workers' or such. If deciding to get formal training, please forgo those private $$ schools and instead opt for the county vo-tech school (or community college) as long as it's accredited within the industry.

Does a make up artist make more money or a flight attendant?
Just could not make up to choose which one.By the way i am chinese guy.Does a make up artist make more money or a flight attendant?
flight attendant make more money then make up artist.Does a make up artist make more money or a flight attendant?
Are you a good make up artist? That makes 100% difference. Flight attendants can be stupid as ****, you just have to take classes. It's also a super gay boring job for life.

Im in 11th grade.i want to pursue a career in becoming a make-up artist.how can i start? ?
any websites or anything that will help?Im in 11th grade.i want to pursue a career in becoming a make-up artist.how can i start? ?
If I were you, I'd ask a high school counselor and let them help you discuss your career as a makeup artist. They'll give you some good advice or help you jot down some numbers to call for career advise in that field.
Hope this helps.Im in 11th grade.i want to pursue a career in becoming a make-up artist.how can i start? ?
I would really say start looking for beauty collages in your area. They have the best source of information to help you. Also if you have any MAC or Sephora stores near you feel free to go in and ask an associate. They really are quite helpful to talk to as well.
