Do I need to go to college to be a hairstylist and/or make up artist?

i kinda asked this before but not about the make up artist part. uhm i guess you dont have to go to college for the hair styling part, but what if i want to be an make up artist too? or is it not possible to be both? i dont know, if you know the facts please tell me.





also where would i need to go in order to apply for ';beauty school'; or i guess websites i need to go too?





and does anyone know like the amount it costs to get in to it?





Also how long im suppose to go to that school until i've passed there requirements.





And how old do i have to be in order to be able to start going there? or is it just that i just need to get my highschool diploma and then age doenst matter?Do I need to go to college to be a hairstylist and/or make up artist?
beauty school is where you want to be. look up local beauty schools on yahoo even (yellow pages) . each one will have it's own website that can give you more info on cost and requirements. if you dont get your answeres from their websites don't hesitate to call! i wish i could be more helpful and just post links, but i dont know where you are.Do I need to go to college to be a hairstylist and/or make up artist?

Hi, I will tell you, for a hairstyling you definetely need a licence and go to school, and as other people told you it can be pretty expensive, it usualy runs from $6000 and up, it depends how good school you go to. If you want to do makeup artistry , they will give you the basic in the school , for the rest you have to go to profecional artistry classes another $$$...... If you want to be just a make up artist, just go to any dept. store and ask for a position as a sales person at cosmetics and they will train you for the basics and send you to a small classes(1day) to learn about the products etc. Then ,through a word of mouth you can get some clients and start doing some weddings or proms etc, but it will not come soon, you have to work it, but this way you can get a start on it and save some $$$ for school and get a practice. hey!! HECK YES!! WELL I MEAN IT WOULD BE BETTER AND I THINK IN ORDER TO OPEN A REAL SALON YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR DEGREE. AND YES YOU DO HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL TO DO HAIR...MARRINELO(?) AND I IS VERY VERY EXPENSIVE AND THE COUNSELOR SHOULD TELL YOU ALL THE REQUIREMENTS...JUST CALL ANY SCHOOL AND THEY'LL TELL YOU
