Hairstylist doesn't take much.

Everyone cuts the same.

Makeup artist..

Get your name out there.

I can't give you much information but.

Go do your friends makeup.

Get to be known as that girl who's good with makeup and hair.

Stand out %26amp; get to know people :)Any tips for a 14 year old who wants to be a hairstylist/ make up artist?
well for a starter for makeup artist you should go to mac and ask them to like do your makeup and show you how to do makeup good. and then you practice on yourself or ask your friends or family to let you practice on them
i would go to a hair salon and volunteer on the weekends (if you are still in high school).. you can wash hair, place them under the blowdryer, help with placing hair color on hair.. ect.. a few hours a weekend might help you in the future with getting a job in a salon, getting clients...
Well, next fall I'll be going to Goldenwest College for their cosmetology program to become a hair stylist. Goldenwest is in Orange County, California, which is only 45 minutes away from L.A.

So if you're looking to work around this area, that could be a nice place to learn. There are also a lot of hair schools out here, including Paul Mitchell.

I also recommend, just practicing with your own make up when your at home. Studying up on different hair styles, and try to find out the techniques for them.
i think it awesome that you want to do this, i do this and i love it.... you need to go to a beauty school where you can get your cosmo license, my best advice is to not waste your time with college if you know that this is what you want to do, just do it from the beginning, practice your friends makeup and things that are not permanent to their hair, just be creative and have fun!
work hard and be patient i'd say

but it's kind of hard to find advice for that

because people who do that are rare.. that you're not likely to find someone who works with celebritys on here

and they would know best
Really there aren't any classes in high school you can take that will help you out other than Anatomy/Physiology, Chemistry, or Art/Design. Some high schools offer introduction vocational classes that will let you start learning some cosmetology basics. Once you get whatever your legal working age is in your area, apply to be a receptionist at a local salon. Or maybe your state offers apprenticeships rather than requiring cosmetology school. :-) I don't know where you live, so I've no clue what your state laws are regarding cosmetology, but MOST states require a license to do any kind of work with clients...meaning there will be no touching clients (no shampooing, brushing/combing, parting off, etc).
oh that is awesome I want to be a makup artist too! well im 13, and I just study dif. makeup books such as Bobbi Brown make-up books ( for neutrals) and MAC books ( for unique designs). Whatever the case, study the books and apply for starting jobs at sephora or any of the good stores. Oh, yes, I forgot, you can get the books at your local Borders or just at the store itslef. Good luck.

well i find it very helpful pracitcing on my guy friends although its hard wehn they move but some of them stay still :)

its way easier though when u go to the movies and they fall asleep hehe
My tip would be to go after a different career where you can make some $$..
do a proffesional make up course. find out what companys/ brands the celebritys use and find out who does their stylings and then take classes at that particular place. it may be a bit more expensive but you will get a better job that way cause im sure they will use one of their own trainees over some other trainee.
Some ideas on getting started:

Learn about makeup, what goes in it, how to use it well, ect. Learn many facts about makeup and skin and hair.

Subscribe to a bunch of magazines, they usually give good tips.

Look for some sort of volunteer/ part-time job at your local ';spa'; (a place that does hair, makeup, waxing, ect.)

Talk to the professionals in your town.

Try every makeup, and go to department stores and talk to the sales assistants about makeup.

Keep learning and expanding your creativity, because if you want to work for celebrities you have to be unique and stand out, otherwise you'll be just like everyone else.

Good luck! Don't let these people discourage you, go for your goals! If you enjoy what you're doing money shouldn't be an issue! And again, good luck!!!!
