How do I become a special effects or theatrical make up artist?

I am really interested in working in this industry but am curious how to get started does anyone know of any good schools in NY for this. also I heard they have make up artist unions and employment agencies does anyone have any info on those?How do I become a special effects or theatrical make up artist?

You can probably look into art schools or cosmetology specializing in makeup.
look into design and art schools and maybe get a job at a department store counter or at a convienience store makeup counter. experience is the best way to learn. good luck
