To become a beautician/make-up artist, would you have to go to College?

My dream job is to either be a make-up artist or a beautician, if I tend to go to college, what would be the difference to when I don't go to college? To become a beautician/make-up artist, would you have to go to College?
Well not really but you do have to go to institutes ans schools. There, you get lessons and courses about colors, beauty, products, mixtures, skin types, combination etc.. Below I places a link to a very good makeup school as an example for you. hope it helps. To become a beautician/make-up artist, would you have to go to College?
No college. You need to go to Cosmetology School, If you don't get licensed, Then you can't work in a Salon, or anywhere in the beauty Industry. In some states, They don't require you to have a license for Make up Artistry, But it is nice to take a few courses(Which, usually would be Esthetics, if you want to be licensed.) to help you out some and get certified.
In my dream you don't go to the college .You can find it in the net
you have qualifications if you go to college, and your more likely to get hired if you have them :)
Not much, that's what beauty schools are for.
I have two daughters who went through Aveda School.

Many companies or should I say, almost all companies are requiring applicants to have finished college. You should take your college just in case you didn't achieve that job. Like a back-up plan. There are courses for being a beautician but I think they're only side courses.
To be a makeup artist, the proper name is Estitician, at least in CA, and you won't only learn how to apply some types of makeup, but you also learn how to do manicures/ pedicures, and waxing.

Cosmetologist (beautician) requires a bit more time studying, and with that you learn a bit of everything, including makeup application, and perhaps the basics of waxing/nails, but you're mostly focusing on hair.

Search on Yahoo! or wherever you usually search, and type in, ';Beauty Schools in ______';. They should come up with a listing of surrounding beauty schools. Beauty Colleges are vocational schools, not actual universities where you can earn say, a degree in criminology, unless your local community college offers those classes at the college. Either way, it is still a vocational career.

Best of luck!
you go to cosmetology school...like the Salon Professional Academy or something...there are tons of schools for that, but it's a technical college type deal...
You do not need a degree of any kind to become a beautician or makeup artist. A good beautician school (usually about 1 year) would help but not a requirement. What you need to be very successful in this field is talent and 'on the job training'. Plenty of beautician schools offer graduation certificates which also can be attained by attendance on a part time basis. This is a great idea. You attend school possible 2 days or nights per week. And you work as an apprentice beautician on a part time basis. You get schooling in the field and experience in the field. Give it a shot. Best of Luck.
well you will have a better chance if you go into a college

but there are a lot of cosmetology/beautician schools out there

its better if you do because one day if you have your own bisnuess it looks better and more people will come

also you might learn new techniques

My sister is in Cosmotology school and wants to be a make up artist...?

What are her chances of getting a great job and loving the career? My sister is in Cosmotology school and wants to be a make up artist...?
It depends on her talent and where she wants to live. She could go work in the movie industry or specialize in weddings and do quite well. Right now, is not a good time to be in the field but maybe that will change fast if the economy improves. My hairdresser says that business is down 40% at her salon because of the economy.

Anyway, your sister does seem like a natural artist and she may not be happy doing anything else even if it pays better. She might be one of those people who enjoy beings around people and making them look better and feel better about themselves. If she were my sister, I would advise her to develop other skills while in cosmotology school such as skincare, hair, and/or nails. There is some money to be made in doing acne facials and microdermabrasion right now even if that is not her favorite thing to do. And good skin comes before good makeup.

PS: My niece recently chose not to go to college and she is in beauty school right now. It was heart-breaking for my sister who had her heart set on having her number 1 daughter go to college. But we all realize that this has been her dream since she was a little girl.My sister is in Cosmotology school and wants to be a make up artist...?
When I was in 7th grade I did a research project and my topic was cosmetology and it seems like a really fun job, but they don't make the good money. . . they make enough to live off of but that's about all. And It shouldn't be that hard for her to get a job, just as long as she passes cosmetology school.
She could have a good job if she starts working at salons and getting her name out there. If she's really good with her stuff, then she can even start her own business (but working at a high/well known-salon can also open doors for her as well). As long as she stays and school and gets as much experience as she can, more doors will open for her.

I have found London make-up academy, but altogether 拢4500. Its a 7 week evening course, 4 nights a week, and teaches make up, hair, nails and eyebrows, but then there is London school of Beauty and Make up which is every saturday for 10 weeks and 拢1000, and just does make up and eyebrows. How much do i need to learn in my courses to start doing make up as a profession? You should check out Last Looks Makeup Academy. They conduct short-term, hands-on makeup classes throughout the U.S. Most courses are on the weekend. They have working professional makeup artists for teachers, and you learn what they do on set. They'll get you ready to work in the Industry. Congratulations on your career choice, by the way. Makeup artists live exciting lives and our work is never dull.

How to become a make-up artist?

I'm hoping someone will have some advice on what steps to take in order to become a make-up artist. I'm looking for schools in new york right now, however I'm not quite sure which ones are reputable. Helllp???

thanksHow to become a make-up artist?
I don't know anything about schools in NY cause I'm from the down under but to become a make- up artist you probably need training. I think you can either work with a make -up artist and they teach you everything or you go to school that has the course. Assiting a make- up artist would probably be more fun then having to go to school for it.How to become a make-up artist?
As a makeup artist myself I know that the best way is to get training is through a school. I'm an Aussie but I can tell you that one of the best Makeup Schools in the US are the Joe Blasco Colleges. There is one in LA, one in Orlando Florida and one is opening soon in New York. Not sure when.

Its free if you do it in college. But you need to pay for your kit. Try the london college of fashion.

Do you have to have a qualification to be a make-up artist, or can you just get ';on the job'; training?

First you need to have a passion for makeup. then you can get practice using friends, faily, yourself. watch youtube videos on how to do certain makeup looks example petrilude and makeupgeektv are some good channels.

on the job training can also help. if one wants to learn more, ten going for training is definitely good. most makeup artists i know are self taught though.Do you have to have a qualification to be a make-up artist, or can you just get ';on the job'; training?
you dont have to be qualified to be a makeup artist but you should get a portfolio started and get alot of experience. I have a friend who learned on the job.Do you have to have a qualification to be a make-up artist, or can you just get ';on the job'; training?
It depends on where you are, where I live in you need to have an estheticians certification after having attended cosmetology school. However in many places you can get on the job training

quite hoenstly babes i have worked as a makeup artist and have never done a formal qualification.talent is more important.the only basics you need to know are what colours suit people and how to apply.this info can be found in beauty magazines, websites or from asking another makeup artist.i wouldnt pay a huge sum to get a qualification.and there isnt a lot of business for this market which is why i dont do it anymore though this may be different in other areas.alot of colleges in britain actually do this course for free.so have a scout around xx

What do you need to study to become a make-up artist?

Make up artist please respond or those who truly know?

    1. Do I put a concealer first or foundation first?

    2. Should my concealer match my skin tone

    3. Bronzer should it also match my skin toneMake up artist please respond or those who truly know?
    1: always apply foundation 1st

2: get a concealer 1 shade lighter than your skin tone

3: buy a bronzer that is a shade darker than your skin to give you a little sunkissed lookMake up artist please respond or those who truly know?
    1. If you're not a pro, I would choose concealer first in case the concealer color don't blend well with the foundation color. If you apply foundation first, you should mix the concealer with the foundation before applying it that is if you're using a liquid foundation.

    2. No, yellow tone cancels out blue and green cancels out red. However, you have to blend it really well so the color difference won't be obvious. You might need to mix it with a little foundation if the color difference is too much.

    3. Bronzers are usually a little darker than your natural skin tone.
    1. Do I put a concealer first or foundation first?

-This is preference. If the person doesn't need much coverage, I'll do the foundation first to see if that evens out the problem. If not, conceal the areas that need it. Otherwise if they really need coverage, concealer first, foundation, then top it off with more concealer, again, if needed.

    2. Should my concealer match my skin tone

-Yes, of course. The point of concealer is the conceal whatever problems you might have and to match your skin tone. If you got a different shade, it would show. It you have redness however, neutralize it first before foundation with a green (you can buy colour wheels anywhere).

    3. Bronzer should it also match my skin tone

-Not so much ';match'; as your goal is to give the skin a healthy glow. If you are fair skinned, I would use maybe a shade darker (nothing lighter then you already are), but stay within the range. Obviously for someone who is fair, you wouldn't be using a bronzer that is made for dark skin. Remember, with bronzer, a little goes a long way. Use a big powder dome brush to sweep colour over the areas that naturally would get the sun (cheekbones, chin, sides of nose, forehead..you get the idea). Remember to blend it into your neck however as normally the neck and face are two different skin shades. The last thing you need is to have a dark face and light neck!

    Hope that helps some.
here is my answer but it also depends on what you prefer.

    but most people do this.

concealer around ur eyes and pimple and black/red spots if u have any.

then foundation all over ur face.

    so concealer then ur foundation.

concealer should match ur skin tone. because u don't want people to see it. obviously.

no bronzer should NOT match ur skin tone, it should be a little darker then ur skin tone coz you are shaping ur face.

    hope it helps.
Concealer goes first. Then the foundation then your powder. Your concealer should be one to two shades lighter than your skin tone to cover redish splotches better. Bronzer should be one to two shades darker than your skin tone and only lightly brush onto your T zone. (Forehead, nose, and chin.)
first u moisturise your skin then use primer then foundation n then some small amount of concelear n yes bronzer should match ur skin tone
    concealer first

He is a pro demonstrating new season麓s colors, but he麓s doing the whole make up process: sun protection, age prevention... eye make up, etc.Should you tip the make up artist for a free demonstration at the cosmetic counter at the mall?
As far as tipping goes, I always ask. Usually, they cannot accept tips, but they like you to buy something. Personally, I have never been to a make up counter that accepts tips, but I am sure it depends on where you are. It really depends on the counter. Lancome, for instance, does not require you to purchase anything, (at least not the ones I have been to), but as a courtesy I always do. Chanel, on the other hand, requires a minimum purchase. I always follow the age-old rule: When in doubt, always ask. Hope this helps!Should you tip the make up artist for a free demonstration at the cosmetic counter at the mall?
I say no! Free is free, he most certainly would not expect to be tipped for such a service. He gets paid for these demos by the make up company. I've never heard of any body tipping a make up artist in a department store. If, however, you go to a salon and see a licensed estetician, then yes you would tip him.
If they go out of there way to be extremely helpful and it impresses you then it is a nice gesture. However it is not necessary or expected. Also some places will not allow them to accept tips as demonstration is a part of there job.
Sure, if you can afford to do it. Why not tip everyone you see while racking up charges on the old credit card?

theyre kind of totally different things, freelance pretty much means that you find your own work and dont belong to a union or anything.

a professional is well...kinda self explanatory.

it means youre educated in makeup artistry and qualified to do it....and you use it as a means of livelihood i guess...Difference between a ';freelance'; make up artist and a ';professional'; make up artist?
Depending on the rules and regulation of the state you live in, you may be able to be a ';freelance'; makeup artist (i.e. no license) for photo shoots, on-location weddings, headshots, portfolio work, etc.

You need a license (not merely a certificate) if you want to do hair/makeup in a salon or in a salon setting. You will not be hired unless you have one (state board rules).

';Professional'; merely states that you are paid for your services, regardless if you have license, certificate, etc.
Generally if you are not licensed you shouldn't call yourself ';professional,'; since technically you don't have any qualifications.

Once you have a good resume and plenty of references, then you could think of calling yourself professional.

I also went to cosmo school and didn't get my license.

I want to apply makeup for a living and I was told to go to school to become an esthetician but when I started we learned alot about spas but very little about makeup. I'm not interested in learning about facials and massages..just makeup. So is there a school or classes that I can go to that is just for makeup? Also how do you get a job at a makeup counter? How do you become a make-up artist?
There are some great Makeup schools in CA,( but I didnt go to them) I am a licensed Aesthetician in TN but I work as a makeup and wig artist at different

operas and shows. I suggest finding someone to intern with and become

an assistant. It is always great to start work at a makeup counter at a

mall, you can get loads of experience in that way. It's great to work

with many face shapes ,sizes and textures. you could also be a rep for

a makeup line and sell and get more experience that way also.i hope this helpsHow do you become a make-up artist?
A really good school is Marinello.

If you just want to do makeup like the girls from MAC they teach you in a few weeks and then you work for them.

Marinello is for professional makeup artists like for models.

Any tips for a 14 year old who wants to be a hairstylist/ make up artist?

okay well im 14 and im pretty sure that i want to be a hairstylist/ make up artist when im older. do you have any tips or anything helpful that i should know? maybe what classes i need to take or anything like that. i kindof wanted to work with celebrities and i think i want to move to new york or LA so yeah...just let me know:]Any tips for a 14 year old who wants to be a hairstylist/ make up artist?
    Hairstylist doesn't take much.

    Everyone cuts the same.

    Makeup artist..

    Get your name out there.

I can't give you much information but.

    Go do your friends makeup.

Get to be known as that girl who's good with makeup and hair.

Stand out %26amp; get to know people :)Any tips for a 14 year old who wants to be a hairstylist/ make up artist?
well for a starter for makeup artist you should go to mac and ask them to like do your makeup and show you how to do makeup good. and then you practice on yourself or ask your friends or family to let you practice on them
i would go to a hair salon and volunteer on the weekends (if you are still in high school).. you can wash hair, place them under the blowdryer, help with placing hair color on hair.. ect.. a few hours a weekend might help you in the future with getting a job in a salon, getting clients...
Well, next fall I'll be going to Goldenwest College for their cosmetology program to become a hair stylist. Goldenwest is in Orange County, California, which is only 45 minutes away from L.A.

So if you're looking to work around this area, that could be a nice place to learn. There are also a lot of hair schools out here, including Paul Mitchell.

I also recommend, just practicing with your own make up when your at home. Studying up on different hair styles, and try to find out the techniques for them.
i think it awesome that you want to do this, i do this and i love it.... you need to go to a beauty school where you can get your cosmo license, my best advice is to not waste your time with college if you know that this is what you want to do, just do it from the beginning, practice your friends makeup and things that are not permanent to their hair, just be creative and have fun!
work hard and be patient i'd say

but it's kind of hard to find advice for that

because people who do that are rare.. that you're not likely to find someone who works with celebritys on here

    and they would know best
Really there aren't any classes in high school you can take that will help you out other than Anatomy/Physiology, Chemistry, or Art/Design. Some high schools offer introduction vocational classes that will let you start learning some cosmetology basics. Once you get whatever your legal working age is in your area, apply to be a receptionist at a local salon. Or maybe your state offers apprenticeships rather than requiring cosmetology school. :-) I don't know where you live, so I've no clue what your state laws are regarding cosmetology, but MOST states require a license to do any kind of work with clients...meaning there will be no touching clients (no shampooing, brushing/combing, parting off, etc).
oh that is awesome I want to be a makup artist too! well im 13, and I just study dif. makeup books such as Bobbi Brown make-up books ( for neutrals) and MAC books ( for unique designs). Whatever the case, study the books and apply for starting jobs at sephora or any of the good stores. Oh, yes, I forgot, you can get the books at your local Borders or just at the store itslef. Good luck.

    ~~ Kayla ~~
well i find it very helpful pracitcing on my guy friends although its hard wehn they move but some of them stay still :)

its way easier though when u go to the movies and they fall asleep hehe
My tip would be to go after a different career where you can make some $$..
do a proffesional make up course. find out what companys/ brands the celebritys use and find out who does their stylings and then take classes at that particular place. it may be a bit more expensive but you will get a better job that way cause im sure they will use one of their own trainees over some other trainee.
    Some ideas on getting started:

Learn about makeup, what goes in it, how to use it well, ect. Learn many facts about makeup and skin and hair.

Subscribe to a bunch of magazines, they usually give good tips.

Look for some sort of volunteer/ part-time job at your local ';spa'; (a place that does hair, makeup, waxing, ect.)

Talk to the professionals in your town.

Try every makeup, and go to department stores and talk to the sales assistants about makeup.

Keep learning and expanding your creativity, because if you want to work for celebrities you have to be unique and stand out, otherwise you'll be just like everyone else.

Good luck! Don't let these people discourage you, go for your goals! If you enjoy what you're doing money shouldn't be an issue! And again, good luck!!!!

Becoming a make up artist in Houston?

I heard you have to go to cosmetology school first before you can take the courses to become a professional make up artist but the cosmetology schools around here are like 80 percent hair with like only ten hours focusing on make up. I have no interest in hair whatsoever. I know I just want to do make up. Does anyone have any info about the steps I should take, in Houston preferably but if not that's fine too.Becoming a make up artist in Houston?
You don't need to go to any cosmetology school if you want to work as a makeup artist privately. Meaning, if you are going to work at private events like weddings or on film sets, or photo shoots.... anything closed to the public you don't need a license, or even makeup counters. If you want to work as makeup artist in a spa or hair salon you need a license. I'm a freelance makeup artist and most are. Everyone I know that went to cosmetology school went because they wanted to go down that path. All my makeup artists friends and myself just took courses.

I do live in California and the laws may vary from state to state, but I know that is the law in lots of states because I called and researched myself.

If you just want to go in the beauty makeup freelance direction you should try the event makeup artist. It's wonderful and affordable and so thorough. I used it myself and am so happy. I learnt the same things as my friends who spent thousands on tuition and now we make the same amount of money.

i think you can become an esthetician and that focuses on skin care, makeup and waxing. so you would always have a gig in between makeup. of course until you launch your own line and are to busy doing covers for vogue. look into it!

    Become a make-up artist for a mortuary?

I am a certified Make-up Artist and i was wondering how to become a Make-up Artist for the deceased at a mortuary? Ive looked everywhere for info but cant seem to find any!Become a make-up artist for a mortuary?
I tried looking too but this is all I found.

oh, and WELCOME TO YAHOO ANSWERS!!Become a make-up artist for a mortuary?
The make-up and cosmetics are done by us, the funeral directors. We are all trained in mortuary school about cosmetics and the application (it is not the same as on a live person). We are extensively trained in colors, application and reconstruction, therefore, it is unlikely that you will find a funeral home that hires out for this, since we do it ourselves as licensed funeral directors.

Steps to becoming a make up artist?

I do my friend's all the time (Guys included), they say i do a really good job, and that i have a talent for making it look like their natural face and not just some mask

But i would like to know how to make my talent a way to get some extra money

I've heard that i could start out from my local MAC store or something like that, but what would you recommend?Steps to becoming a make up artist?
You really should go to a school if you seriously want to do this for your career. There are a ton of different schools out there, it just depends on where you live. If you just want to do this as a part-time thing and not a career you could try to get a job at a cosmetics counter at your local department store. It's easier to get a job at some of the smaller lines than it is for MAC. I got a job working for a Chanel counter years ago and they give you basic training on their products and then refresher training every so often when new products come out. You usually get free products when you work for a cosmetics company, too.Steps to becoming a make up artist?
Cosmetology school is a MUST, no matter how much natural talent you have!

But in the meantime, you can get started at a local department stores makeup counter... Just go in, and apply for some jobs!
no idea, but its a good career. start by looking it up online, u will find ways to get started.

i went to a dermatologist....she gave me some creams which improved but very little.that dint solve the purpose actually...then i had peels done which imroved a little further again but no point coz they are still conspicuous.......now im considering going to a beautician(lol....coz i wanna be handsome not beautiful).do you think ill get better solutions???Is a dermatologist better or a make up artist for dark circles?
NOPE.. even i went to a dermatologist who perscribed me some vitamin tablets which worked a little for ma dark circles..then i tried some tips suggested by ma beautician who asked me to apply all that tomato, carrot etc around my eyes which showed no result..then atlast consulted a doctor who really helped me wit these tips

    1.drink lots of water

2.instead of applying all those smashed veggies around ur eyes try EATING them(u can eat boiled veggies)

    3.have a good nights sleep

4.and don apply any creams under the delicate area of ur eyesIs a dermatologist better or a make up artist for dark circles?
Believe it or not my clients (i'm a practicing aesthetitian) constantly tell me that nothing works better for those circles around the eyes than cream for..... get ready... haemorrhoids! Buy it from your local chemist and try it for yourself. I know it sounds funny but they say it works better than anything in the whole industry.

How can I become a MAC make up artist?

can you explain your question more?

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you are asking

I am trying to become a make-up artist. What make-up would you recommend?as well as tools.?

I would like to know of the best...MAC or Mary Kay...etc

I want to know something that I can use with Confidence.

And tools that I'll need.I am trying to become a make-up artist. What make-up would you recommend?as well as tools.?
I am a professional makeup artist and I use faerie organic minerals on all my clientel. Mineral makeup is really a must for makeup artistry as it blends really well, giving a flawless face and adds a natural glow along with many benefits of concealing redness (due to the titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) and it has natural spf. I have worked with oh so many mediums (liquid, cream, powder etc.) and brands and I have found that the faerie organic minerals photograph really well and my clientel is very happy with the results. I do a lot of wealthy and high end clientel and they also enjoy the fact that the makeup I am using on them dosen't feel heavy or cakey and that it is all natural and won't break them out and can actually help your skin get better. They are a smaller family owned natural organic company so if you email them they will work with you on setting up a makeup artist kit for you (and getting wholesale) like they did for me. Mary Kay is crap (I used it a long time ago and had many complaints) especially since it is an over saturated market that everyone knows about and NOBODY wants to pay you for a makeover because they are afraid you are trying to hawk your mary kay at them. As for tools needed. I would recommend a full brush kit in the leather binder (you can get from faerie organic-they have special makeup artist tools that aren't on their website) and makeup you will need several foundation colors that you can mix and I recommend highlighter, several eyeshadows you can mix, lip balm, lip gloss, wet wipes and sponges. You can check out their site here......http://www.faerieorganic.comI am trying to become a make-up artist. What make-up would you recommend?as well as tools.?
Look everywhere. Not every brand has all the brushes you'll want or need. My brushes range from art store paintbrushes (only natural fibers, except for foundation) to MACPro. It's all about what you use, not what one brand makes.

For basics, I'd get a shadow brush, a blender brush, a liner brush, an angle brush, a foundation brush, a blush brush and a powder brush.
go to sephora to buy all your tools. There even better then mac... and they have many different brands of make-up that are once again better then mac.

Do You have to be certified to become a free-lance make-up artist?

What exactly is a free lance make-up artist?

Do you have to go to school? (Certified?)Do You have to be certified to become a free-lance make-up artist?
No you don't need to become certified. A makeup school helps you to learn methods, etc. However, many people won't hire you without professional training but the best thing is prior work experience.

i kinda asked this before but not about the make up artist part. uhm i guess you dont have to go to college for the hair styling part, but what if i want to be an make up artist too? or is it not possible to be both? i dont know, if you know the facts please tell me.

also where would i need to go in order to apply for ';beauty school'; or i guess websites i need to go too?

And how old do i have to be in order to be able to start going there? or is it just that i just need to get my highschool diploma and then age doenst matter?Do I need to go to college to be a hairstylist and/or make up artist?
beauty school is where you want to be. look up local beauty schools on yahoo even (yellow pages) . each one will have it's own website that can give you more info on cost and requirements. if you dont get your answeres from their websites don't hesitate to call! i wish i could be more helpful and just post links, but i dont know where you are.Do I need to go to college to be a hairstylist and/or make up artist?
YOU HAVE TO GO TO BEAUTY SCHOOL.COSMETOLOGY
Hi, I will tell you, for a hairstyling you definetely need a licence and go to school, and as other people told you it can be pretty expensive, it usualy runs from $6000 and up, it depends how good school you go to. If you want to do makeup artistry , they will give you the basic in the school , for the rest you have to go to profecional artistry classes another $$$...... If you want to be just a make up artist, just go to any dept. store and ask for a position as a sales person at cosmetics and they will train you for the basics and send you to a small classes(1day) to learn about the products etc. Then ,through a word of mouth you can get some clients and start doing some weddings or proms etc, but it will not come soon, you have to work it, but this way you can get a start on it and save some $$$ for school and get a practice. hey!! Good luck!!!
HECK YES!! WELL I MEAN IT WOULD BE BETTER AND I THINK IN ORDER TO OPEN A REAL SALON YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR DEGREE. AND YES YOU DO HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL TO DO HAIR...MARRINELO(?) AND I IS VERY VERY EXPENSIVE AND THE COUNSELOR SHOULD TELL YOU ALL THE REQUIREMENTS...JUST CALL ANY SCHOOL AND THEY'LL TELL YOU

I'm studying to be a registered nurse, but I have dreams of being a make up artist/body piercer. what do i do?

Being a registered nurse is the safe thing to do. But this is my dream, even if theres a chance I wont be successful. Follow my dreams? Or play it safe?I'm studying to be a registered nurse, but I have dreams of being a make up artist/body piercer. what do i do?
A nursing degree is a fantatic backup, even if it's not what you truly want to do

The knowledge you gain from it can seriously help you out if you want to become a piercer. It's a very hard industry to get into, it'd be a great thing to have on your side

It's okay to do both; the piercer that I'm currently working with actually trained as a nurse before opening his studio, apparently it's really helped!

I'd say go for the nursing but look elsewhere; even if you don't get what you want in the end you'll still have it as a backupI'm studying to be a registered nurse, but I have dreams of being a make up artist/body piercer. what do i do?
Follow your dreams or you will always wonder about them. If nursing is not your calling you will not be a good care giver nor will you be happy in your work. Nursing is a secure, good salaried profession, but you must truly like caring for the sick, injured and dying on a daily basis. If you do not feel that, then you are now wasting your time. There is a world of difference between nursing and being a make-up artist. How badly do you want that dream, only you can make that choice.
    follow your dream!!!
You'd be surprised at how much medicine is involved in cosmetics and knowing about makeup forces you to deal with the skin - an organ, so do both

go to school for nursing, finish and tend to the other desires and see how it goes, the nursing will keep you competitive and you'll stand apart from others in cosmetology

study it on the side, in your own spare time, keep being into it, etc.
follow your dreams! you have to decide which will make you happier
    how it is ?

why waste your time with nurseing when its not what you really really want...follow your dreams %26amp; be happy
You know there is a world full of people that get up every day and go to a job that pays well but they are completely miserable. My mom raised us saying, I don't care if you sweep floors as long as it's a job that you can't wait to get to everyday. I remember watching my mom in the mornings getting ready for work and she just couldn't stop crying, so I asked her one day why she cried everyday that she had to go to work and she said ';because I hate my job and I just don't want to go but I have to because I love you more and I have to take care of you. So needless to say I have never had a career, but I have had fun and love for my job and before you go to guessing on what I do I'll till you. I work for my self. I sell electricity for Ignite-Stream Energy and now I have time for my own children. Some times you have to take a leap of faith to be happy. When you finally do leap you will find that everything else will fall into place in your life. Best of wishes, dianamayigniteinc.biz
    Follow your dreams
Do what you want to do. Easy answer!
Go for your dream. I am an RN.......because it was the safe thing to do.......because it meant financial security after 3 years of school. Did not have to climb any ladder of success for years first. An RN salary is really good right out of school. And now, after only 6 years of being a nurse, I realize I hate it and wish I never spent my time on something I do not like. I would rather be doing something else, but do not have the time to go back to school. I should have done something else in the first place.
go to school for nursing so you can pursue your dreams with a solid back up plan. nursing skills will be useful no matter what.
